SAS Enterprise Guide 7.x through 8.x might stop responding or fail when you open extremely wide data. This problem can occur for SAS data tables as well as for other database tables. In this scenario, the error in the Application log that is generated by SAS Enterprise Guide is similar to the following:
FATAL SAS.BI.SASComb [(null)] - Max buffer size exceeded FIFOBuffer::Enqueue
To circumvent this problem, update the SAS server to SAS® 9.4M6 (TS1M6) or later.
